Data Cleansing

Data Cleansing is the process of identifying corrupt, inaccurate or otherwise faulty data within a system and removing it or replacing it with accurate data. Data Cleansing can be performed regularly as a preventative measure or abruptly when a negative outcome results from faulty data.

In other words...

When the mailman puts your mail in your neighbor’s mailbox, so you have to call the post office to straighten things out.
